Treatment for gum disease, including Scaling and Root Planing (Deep Cleaning & Gum Disease Treatment), to protect the foundation of your smile. Gum disease is common and often develops gradually, without obvious symptoms. By the time it causes noticeable pain or bleeding, it has often been present for some time.

Scaling and Root Planing (Deep Cleaning & Gum Disease Treatment) is a deeper cleaning that removes bacterial buildup from below the gumline and smooths the root surfaces so gum tissue can reattach. It's not a comfortable procedure, but it's far less disruptive than the problems left untreated gum disease eventually creates.

We take a staged approach: evaluate the severity, treat accordingly, and monitor progress. The goal is to stop the disease and stabilize what's there.

What to expect

How periodontal treatment works.

  1. Evaluation and staging.

    We measure pocket depths around each tooth and take x-rays to assess bone levels. This tells us how far the disease has progressed and what treatment is appropriate.

  2. Scaling and Root Planing (Deep Cleaning & Gum Disease Treatment).

    A thorough cleaning below the gumline to remove calculus and bacteria that routine cleanings don't reach. The area is numbed first. Treatment may be done in sections over multiple visits.

  3. Follow-up and monitoring.

    A follow-up appointment checks the tissue response several weeks after treatment. We assess whether the gums have improved and whether additional treatment is needed.

  4. Ongoing maintenance.

    Patients with a history of gum disease typically need more frequent hygiene visits to keep the disease from returning. We'll recommend an appropriate schedule for your situation.

Financing

We offer third-party financing through Cherry, along with an in-house membership plan for patients who prefer it.
